William Cutter
William Cutter holds an M.M. and D.M.A. in Composition from Boston University School for the Arts. His major teachers included David Del Tredici and Bernard Rands. He has held academic posts at Boston University, The University of Lowell, and the Walnut Hill School. Currently, Dr. Cutter serves as Director of Choral Programs at MIT and as Director of Choral Activities at the Boston Conservatory, where he also teaches conducting.
In 2002, he was appointed chorus master and associate conductor of the Boston Lyric Opera Company and chorus master of the Boston POPS Holiday Chorus. Cutter is also assistant to John Oliver for the Tanglewood Festival Chorus where he has prepared the chorus for recording sessions and TV tapings for Keith Lockhart, John Williams and the Boston Pops. In August 2002, he prepared the Tanglewood Festival Chorus for a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony for Sir Roger Norrington and the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood.
As a professional tenor, he has sung with Boston's premiere choral ensembles including the Handel and Haydn Society, The Cantata Singers, Boston Baroque, and Emmanuel Music. His music is published by E.C. Schirmer, Walton Music Publishers, Lawson and Gould, Roger Dean Publishing Co., and Alfred Educational Publishers.
